About This Preteen Bible Lesson

This free printable Bible lesson helps preteens explore Matthew 28:18–20, where the risen Jesus gives His followers the Great Commission. What does all authority mean?

When Jesus says that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him, He is saying that He is King over everything. His authority is not limited to one place or one part of life.

This lesson helps preteens see that Jesus has authority over nature, sickness, evil, sin, death, and every nation. Because He is the risen King, His followers can trust His commands and His promise to be with them as they follow Him.

The Great Commission also gives children a bigger picture of God’s heart for the world. The gospel is not only for people who look, speak, or live like us. Jesus sends His followers toward people from every nation and background. At the same time, He does not give them a mission and leave them alone. The King who sends His people is also the King who promises to stay with them.
