Matthew 10
Trueway Word Bible lesson for preteens (ages 8–13)
About This Preteen Bible Lesson
This free printable Bible lesson explores the Bible passage in Matthew 10, where Jesus calls twelve disciples and sends them out to continue His mission. In this passage, Jesus chooses ordinary people, gives them authority to serve, and teaches them to trust God as they follow Him. Using the Trueway Word W.O.R.D. Bible study method, children learn to Walk into God’s Word, Observe what the Bible says, Reflect on what it means, and Discover how to live it out.
The lesson helps preteens understand that discipleship begins with belonging to Jesus before doing work for Him. The activity pages guide children to see that following Jesus involves listening, learning, trusting, and walking closely with Him. As shown throughout the lesson pages—including the introduction to the twelve disciples and Jesus sending them out with authority (pages 2–6)—children discover that God often calls ordinary people to take part in His extraordinary purposes.
The Big Question
Are all believers disciples or just a few special ones?
In Matthew 10, Jesus calls the twelve disciples by name and sends them on a special mission. Yet the Bible teaches that the word disciple simply means learner or follower. Anyone who chooses to follow Jesus and learn from Him is called to be a disciple.
What Kids Will Learn

• A disciple is someone who listens, learns, trusts, and follows Jesus
• Jesus gives His followers strength and authority to serve Him
