Luke 10:38–42

Trueway Baby Bible lesson for ages 0–2

About This Baby Bible Lesson

This free printable Baby Bible lesson gently introduces babies and toddlers to the Bible passage in Luke 10:38–42, where Jesus visits Mary and Martha. Martha is very busy, while Mary sits near Jesus and listens to His words. Through simple phrases, repeated actions, music, sensory play, and visual learning, little ones begin to learn one clear truth: I can listen to Jesus.

Designed especially for ages 0–2, this lesson focuses on connection, repetition, and early faith formation. Babies experience the Bible passage through movement, sound, touch, facial expressions, and loving interaction, helping them begin to associate Jesus with good words, loving attention, and trust.

The lesson presents Mary and Martha through simple action cards, including knocking as Jesus arrives, wiggling fingers to show busy Martha, patting the floor as Mary sits near Jesus, cupping a hand behind the ear to listen, and clapping because Jesus’ words are good.

The lesson also includes Listening Shakers, using securely sealed sensory bottles containing a small amount of dry rice or beans. Babies shake, pause, and listen to the sounds while hearing that Mary sat quietly and listened to Jesus.

Watch & Sing Along

“Mary Listened”

Optional tune: Frère Jacques

Mary listened, Mary listened,
To the Lord, to the Lord.
Sitting by His feet, sitting by His feet,
Hear His words, hear His words.

We can listen, we can listen,
To the Lord, to the Lord.
Sitting by His feet, sitting by His feet,
Hear His words, hear His words.

Singing together supports bonding, rhythm, early language development, and repetition of the lesson’s key truth.

Parent Take-Home Connection

The parent take-home sheet reminds families that their child learned: Jesus loves when we listen to Him.

It includes simple home ideas such as a Sound Hunt, listening to safe household objects, and Busy and Still, where babies wiggle like Martha and then sit quietly like Mary. Families can also practise the Listen sign and sing the lesson song together during the week.
