Luke 19:1–10

Trueway Baby Bible lesson for ages 0–2

About This Baby Bible Lesson

This free printable Baby Bible lesson gently introduces babies and toddlers to the Bible passage in Luke 19:1–10, where Zacchaeus climbs a tree to see Jesus, and Jesus stops to call him by name. Through simple words, repeated actions, music, sensory play, and visual learning, little ones begin to learn one clear truth: Jesus knows my name.

Designed especially for ages 0–2, this lesson focuses on connection, repetition, and early faith formation. Babies experience the Bible passage through movement, sound, touch, facial expression, and loving interaction, helping them discover that Jesus sees them, knows them personally, and loves them.

The lesson introduces Zacchaeus through simple action cards, including Zacchaeus wanting to see Jesus, climbing the tree, Jesus stopping beneath the tree, calling Zacchaeus down, visiting his home, and reminding every child that Jesus knows their name too. Through these repeated interactions, babies begin to associate Jesus with love, friendship, and personal care.

The lesson also includes a hands-on “Rustling Leaves” sensory activity, where babies explore soft fabric leaves or crinkle paper while hearing how Zacchaeus hid in the tree but Jesus still saw him. This gentle sensory experience reinforces the lesson theme through touch, movement, and repetition while remaining safe and age appropriate.

Watch & Sing Along

“Come and Eat with Me”

(Optional Tune: Row, Row, Row Your Boat)

Climb, climb, climb the tree,
Up so high to see.
Jesus stopped and called him down,
“Come and eat with Me.”

Singing together supports bonding, rhythm, and early language development while reinforcing the key truth of the lesson.

Parent Take-Home Connection

The parent take-home sheet reminds families that their child learned: Jesus knows my name. God loves ME!

It also includes simple at-home activities such as “Peek-a-Boo,” where parents remind their child that Jesus always sees them and knows them, and “Up and Down,” where children lift a toy up high and bring it back down while remembering Zacchaeus climbing the tree and Jesus calling him down. These playful activities help reinforce the Bible lesson through everyday interaction and repetition.

The take-home sheet also encourages families to practise the sign for “See” and sing the lesson song together throughout the week, helping babies remember that Jesus knows and loves them personally.
