1 Samuel 17
Trueway Baby Bible lesson for ages 0–2
About This Baby Bible Lesson
This free printable Baby Bible lesson gently introduces babies and toddlers to the Bible passage of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. David was a young shepherd who trusted God, while Goliath was a giant soldier who frightened everyone around him. David knew that even though Goliath looked very big, God was bigger. Through simple words, repeated actions, music, sensory play, and visual learning, little ones begin to learn one clear truth: God is bigger.
Designed especially for ages 0–2, this lesson focuses on connection, repetition, and early faith formation. Babies experience the Bible passage through movement, counting, simple signs, high-contrast cards, soft sensory materials, and loving interaction.
The lesson presents the passage through simple action cards, including making sheep sounds with David, using the Big sign for Goliath, covering the eyes to show fear, counting five stones, spinning hands to represent David’s sling, tracing the stone through the air, clapping when Goliath falls, and repeating that God is big and takes care of us.
The lesson also includes a Five Stones sensory activity. Babies can hold, squeeze, and gently toss five soft grey foam blocks, beanbags, or rolled-up socks while hearing that David picked up small stones but trusted a very big God to keep him safe.

Watch & Sing Along
“God Is Much Bigger”
Optional tune: London Bridge Is Falling Down
Goliath was so big and tall,
big and tall, big and tall.
Goliath was so big and tall,
he was giant!
But God is much bigger still,
bigger still, bigger still.
But God is much bigger still,
God is biggest!
Singing together supports bonding, rhythm, early language development, and repetition of the lesson’s key truth.
Parent Take-Home Connection
The parent take-home sheet reminds families that their child learned: God is always bigger. God keeps me safe.
It includes simple home ideas such as Giant Shadow, using a lamp or flashlight to make large hand shadows while remembering that God is bigger than Goliath, and Sock Targets, tossing soft rolled-up socks into a laundry basket while counting and remembering David’s stones. Families can also practise the Big sign and sing the lesson song during the week.
