2 Kings 6:1–7
Trueway Baby Bible lesson for ages 0–2
About This Baby Bible Lesson
This free printable Baby Bible lesson gently introduces babies and toddlers to the Bible passage about the floating axe head in 2 Kings 6:1–7. A group of men are cutting down trees when a heavy iron axe head falls into the water. Elisha responds to the problem, and God causes the iron to float so it can be picked up again.
Through simple words, repeated actions, music, sensory play, and visual learning, little ones begin to learn one clear truth: God helps me.
Designed especially for ages 0–2, this lesson focuses on connection, repetition, and early faith formation. Babies experience the Bible passage through movement, simple signs, high-contrast cards, floating and sinking actions, sensory exploration, and loving interaction.
The lesson presents the passage through simple action cards, including tapping closed fists together to represent chopping trees, sitting tall to show the heavy iron axe, dropping the hands low when the axe head falls into the water, making a sad face when it is lost, moving a finger like a sawing motion when Elisha cuts a wooden stick, throwing the hands upward when the iron floats, reaching forward as the man picks it up, and giving a caring hug to remember that God cares about everything we do.
The lesson also includes a Floating Bottle sensory activity. Babies and toddlers can turn or roll securely sealed sensory bottles filled with water and a large brightly coloured floating item, watching it rise back to the top while hearing how God made the heavy iron axe head float.

The parent take-home sheet reminds families that their child learned: God cares about every detail of our lives and loves to help us.
It includes simple home ideas such as Sink or Float Exploration, comparing a safe sinking object with a light floating object in water, and Nature Stick, taking a short walk and helping toddlers notice clean fallen twigs or sticks on the ground.
