Acts 16:16–40

Trueway Baby Bible lesson for ages 0–2

About This Baby Bible Lesson

This free printable Baby Bible lesson gently introduces babies and toddlers to the Bible passage about Paul and Silas in prison in Acts 16:16–40. Paul and Silas were locked in prison, but instead of giving up, they prayed and sang praise songs to God. The other prisoners listened. Then the ground suddenly shook, the chains fell off, and the prison doors opened wide.

Through simple words, repeated actions, music, sensory play, and visual learning, little ones begin to learn one clear truth: God hears my praise.

Designed especially for ages 0–2, this lesson focuses on connection, repetition, and early faith formation. Babies experience the Bible passage through movement, music, simple signs, high-contrast cards, shaking sounds, listening actions, and loving interaction.

The lesson presents the passage through simple action cards, including making a quiet face while Paul and Silas are in prison, raising both hands in the Praise sign while they sing to God, cupping a hand behind the ear as the other prisoners listen, gently tapping the feet when the ground begins to shake, dropping the hands as the heavy chains fall off, spreading the arms wide as the prison doors open, clapping when the prison guard comes to love Jesus, and raising the hands again to remember that God hears our praise.

The lesson also includes a Praise Shakers sensory activity. Babies and toddlers can shake securely sealed sensory bottles filled with large, brightly coloured buttons or beads while singing the lesson song. Adults can also gently create an “earthquake” rumble as children hear how Paul and Silas praised God in prison.

Watch & Sing Along

“I Can Sing and Pray to God”

Optional tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb

I can sing and pray to God,
Pray to God, pray to God.
I can sing and pray to God,
He hears me when I call.

God is with me day and night,
Day and night, day and night.
God is with me day and night,
His love will never fail.

Singing together supports bonding, rhythm, early language development, movement, and repetition of the lesson’s key truth.

Parent Take-Home Connection

The parent take-home sheet reminds families that their child learned: We can praise God anytime and anywhere.

It includes simple home ideas such as Open the Door, using a box or baby-safe container as a pretend prison and letting the child open and close the door while remembering that God opened the prison doors, and Song Time, using a laundry basket or cardboard box as a pretend jail while singing a simple praise song together.

Families can also practise the Praise sign and sing the lesson song during the week.
