Nehemiah 1–6

Trueway Baby Bible lesson for ages 0–2

About This Baby Bible Lesson

This free printable Baby Bible lesson gently introduces babies and toddlers to the Bible passage about Nehemiah in Nehemiah 1–6. Nehemiah prayed to God, travelled a long way, and saw that the walls of Jerusalem were broken. Many people came together to help rebuild them. God helped the workers, kept them safe, and the great wall was finished.

Through simple words, repeated actions, music, sensory play, and visual learning, little ones begin to learn one clear truth: God helps us build.

Designed especially for ages 0–2, this lesson focuses on connection, repetition, and early faith formation. Babies experience the Bible passage through movement, simple signs, high-contrast cards, stacking activities, building play, prayer actions, and loving interaction.

The lesson presents the passage through simple action cards, including making a prayer gesture as Nehemiah prays to God, patting the knees to represent his long journey, making a sad face when he sees the broken walls, waving as many friends come to help, using the Build sign as the wall grows higher, looking around as God keeps the workers safe, cheering when the wall is finished, and clapping as everyone thanks the Lord.

The lesson also includes a Building Block sensory activity. Babies and toddlers can stack, pat, and knock down large, safe building blocks while hearing how Nehemiah and his friends worked together to rebuild the city wall. The activity gives little ones a simple hands-on way to connect building play with the lesson’s key truth.

Watch & Sing Along

“God Will Help Us Do the Work”

Optional tune: London Bridge Is Falling Down

God will help us do the work,
Do the work, do the work.
God will help us do the work,
Working all together.

Pray and build and do our part,
Do our part, do our part.
Pray and build and do our part,
Working all together.

Singing together supports bonding, rhythm, early language development, movement, and repetition of the lesson’s key truth.

Parent Take-Home Connection

The parent take-home sheet reminds families that their child learned: God helps us to work together.

It includes simple home ideas such as Plastic Cup Tower, using three or four large plastic cups to build a small tower together while practising the Build sign, and Boundary Walk, taking a short walk around the outside of the home, church, or apartment building and pausing at the doorway to thank God for a safe place.

Families can also practise the Build sign and sing the lesson song during the week.
