Acts 12:1–19

Trueway Baby Bible lesson for ages 0–2

About This Baby Bible Lesson

This free printable Baby Bible lesson gently introduces babies and toddlers to the Bible passage about Peter being rescued from prison in Acts 12:1–19. Peter is locked in prison while his friends pray for him. During the night, an angel appears, Peter’s chains fall off, the gate opens, and Peter walks out safely.

Through simple words, repeated actions, music, sensory play, and visual learning, little ones begin to learn one clear truth: God hears my prayers.

Designed especially for ages 0–2, this lesson focuses on connection, repetition, and early faith formation. Babies experience the Bible passage through movement, sound, simple signs, high-contrast cards, sensory play, and loving interaction.

The lesson presents the passage through simple action cards, including covering the eyes to represent the dark prison, putting hands together to pray, opening the eyes wide when the bright angel appears, dropping the hands as Peter’s chains fall off, stretching the arms wide as the gate opens, moving freely to show that Peter is safe outside, knocking three times when Peter arrives at the house, and praying again to remember that we can pray for others too.

The lesson also includes a Shaking Chains sensory activity. Babies and toddlers can shake securely sealed sensory bottles filled with large silver foil rings to create a gentle clinking sound while hearing how Peter was locked up and how his friends prayed for him.

Watch & Sing Along

“God Hears Us When We Pray”

Optional tune: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

God, You hear us when we pray,
Listening to the words we say.
God is near and never late,
God is good and God is great!
Thank You, God, for hearing me,
Loving us so faithfully!

Singing together supports bonding, rhythm, early language development, movement, and repetition of the lesson’s key truth.

Parent Take-Home Connection

The parent take-home sheet reinforces the lesson’s focus on prayer and includes two simple home activities. In Chain Break-Away, families loosely drape a very soft, lightweight scarf or muslin cloth over the child’s hands and encourage them to lift their arms so it falls away. In Knock-Knock Game, a soft toy appears after three gentle knocks, echoing Peter’s arrival at the house where his friends were praying.

Families can also practise the Pray sign and sing the lesson song during the week.
