About This Baby Bible Lesson

This free printable Baby Bible lesson gently introduces babies and toddlers to the Bible passage about Elijah in 1 Kings 17. Elijah rests beside the water, and God sends birds with food for him to eat. Later, when the water dries up, Elijah meets a kind mother who has only a little food left, but God provides so that her jars do not run out.

Through simple words, repeated actions, music, sensory play, and visual learning, little ones begin to learn one clear truth: God gives me food.

Designed especially for ages 0–2, this lesson focuses on connection, repetition, and early faith formation. Babies experience the Bible passage through movement, simple signs, high-contrast cards, pretend food play, reaching and grasping, and loving interaction.

The lesson presents the passage through simple action cards, including wiggling fingers like flowing water, flapping arms like the birds God sent with food, rubbing the tummy as Elijah eats bread, hiding the hands when the water dries up, waving hello when Elijah meets the mother, showing “a little” with the fingers, moving the hands in circles as the food keeps lasting, and using the Food/Eat sign to remember that God provides our daily food.

The lesson also includes a Play Picnic sensory activity. Babies and toddlers can crawl onto a picnic blanket and reach for, grasp, and pass large play-food shapes while hearing how God cared for Elijah and provided food for him.
